HTX (Formerly Huobi) Hit by $7.9 Million Hack, Justin Sun Reveals Response Amidst Crypto Losses

Mixin Kernel
Amount of Loss: ~ $8M
Analysis
A $7.9 million hack on HTX (formerly Huobi) was announced by Justin Sun less than 12 hours after Mixin Network admitted to a $200 million loss.
The loss was brushed off by Sun as insignificant in comparison to the $3 billion of assets held on the platform, with the stolen amount representing just two weeks' revenue for the exchange.
The hack occurred shortly after Huobi rebranded to HTX, drawing comparisons to a similar situation involving SBF's now bankrupt exchange.
Details of the attack vector are scant, and 4999 ETH ($7.9 million) was drained at 10 AM UTC on Sunday, with HTX securing the remaining 633 ETH (worth $1 million) over two hours later.
Sun claimed to have identified the hacker, offering a 5% bounty and a job on-chain, with law enforcement to be informed after seven days; he also announced implementing real-time monitoring mechanisms to prevent such losses, raising questions about their absence given the exchange's substantial user assets.
